CNARC

In recent years with rapid changes of climate and environment in the Arctic region and China’s economic growth, the interaction between China and the Arctic has been increasingly deepened, which calls for a coherent and sustainable development of the Arctic and China.
China-Nordic Arctic research cooperation has been intensified over the past few years and during that period Chinese institutes such as the Polar Research Institute of China (PRIC) and Shanghai Institute of International Studies (SIIS) have strengthened their ties with international counterparts.

SYMPOSIA

The 5th China-Nordic Arctic Cooperation Symposium took place in Dalian, China, from the 24th to 26th of May 2017, under the theme “Towards the Future: Trans-regional Cooperation in the Arctic Development and Protection”. Thematic sessions included: 1) Europe-Asia Connectivity: Promoting the Potential Utilization of Arctic Sea Route, 2) Interaction between Arctic and Non-arctic regions: Compatibility of Arctic Strategies and Policies, 3) Exploring the Way forward in Cooperation: Global Governance of the Arctic Ocean. At this occasion the CNARC Roundtable 2017 on Arctic Shipping and Port Cities also took place under the CNARC Roundtable code.

The 6th China-Nordic Arctic Cooperation Symposium will take place in Tromsø, Norway early June/end of May 2017. We look forward to seeing you there!
