Wuhan University (WHU), one of China's Top 10 universities, traces its origins back to the late Qing Dynasty. As a key comprehensive university directly under the Ministry of Education, WHU is a proud recipient of full support from both central and local governments under "Project 211" and "Project 985." It is also among the first institutions selected for China’s "Double First-Class" initiative. To date, WHU has established partnerships with over 300 universities and research institutions across 53 countries and regions.

The Chinese Antarctic Center of Surveying and Mapping (CACSM) at Wuhan University is a specialized institute responsible for Chinese national polar surveying and mapping efforts. It comprises five key divisions: Polar Geodesy and Geodynamics, Geophysics, Polar Environment Remote Sensing, Digital Antarctica and GIS, and Polar Policy Research. Since the 1^st Chinese National Antarctic Research Expedition (CHINARE) in 1984, CACSM has participated in 41 Antarctic expeditions and 18 Arctic expeditions, totally more than 200 person-times. In recognition of its outstanding contributions to national polar expeditions, CACSM has been honored with prestigious awards, including the China Youth May 4^th Medal.
